XI. Day of the ferries

Captain’s Log: Tuesday, 25 July

Distance: Venice – East of Ca’Lino, 40km with the bicycle, and I don’t know how much with some ferries
We left Venice quite late, I think, around 11am. The first ferry went from Tronchetto to the Lido di Venezia, which we missed for like 5 minutes, so we had to wait 40 minutes for tbe next one.

The ferry took us to the northern end of the island, so we drove down to the southern end for the next ferry to the next island called Pellestrina, which we also missed for like 2 minutes. But we only had to wait for 30 minutes, and there has been shadows.

The next one took us down to Chioggia, a little city whose name I just cannot pronounce. There we met my Grandmother again, who went on a day trip down there with the bus and the ferries. After a short glance on the clock Moritz and I decided that we would not come far anymore today anyway, so we sat down with her for a drink and to say goodbye. I really enjoyed the time in Venice and I’m looking forward to return there. But then without my bike.

We then left southwards and actually planned to drive another 20km to a nice camping ground, but then the storm caught up with us.

That is a picture which my Grandmother took on ger way back to Venice, but since Moritz and I have been too busy driving and trying to stay out of this as long as possible or until we found a camping ground close to us, I have not been able to take any pictures.

We arrived at a small, maybe a bit dubious place before it started and even managed to build up our tents before it started raining. I think, it passed not directly over us because it was not that bad as it looked to me.
