Captain’s Log: Saturday, 5 August
Distance: Lago di Bolsena – Lago die Vico / Caprarola, 48km
We allowed us today to start a little bit later, since the next lake was not that far away, and we still have enough time to get to Rome in time.
After a relaxing breakfast at the lake we headed further south. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depends on how you see it, we had to cross two hills again. Unfortunately because uphill, fortunately because the view is always better at the top of a hill.
The second hill had a Steigung of 10%, which was not so fun. I seemed to look a bit frustrated already, because a woman stopped with her car and asked if everything was alright or if I needed any help. I was surprised how well she spoke English. She told me as well that it was not that much further up anymore, so I thanked her and told her, I would be able to do the rest alone as well. Luckily, the whole second hill has been already in some sort of National Park, so it was in the middle of a forest, which meant a lot of shadow.
And again and as I said, the view was incredible. This was not right at the top, but definitely the best place to take pictures.
Because of all the hills and the later start I arrived quite late at the camping ground. The only thing was, it was not directly at the lake, so no swimming today.
While relaxing, we saw a firefighter plane a couple of times, which flew to the lake to fetch water.
In the evening, we went down to the lake, where we also had our daily Ice Cream.
And thanks again for the comments, I really like reading them (:
