XXXIV. The long road back

Captain’s Log: Thursday, 17 August

Distance: Napoli – Rome – Muinch, 34km by bike and I do not know how much by train and bus

In the morning I drove the last 15km to Napoli with my bicycle, while the British guys, who were taking the same train back to Roma as me, got there by the Metro. I arrived a bit too early, so I sat down at the station and read again.

In the train I met two other bicyclists, who put their bikes beside mine.

The rest of the day passed quite unspectacular, I said goodbye to the British guys and then drove a bit around in Rome again.

Here we go again… After getting an Ice Cream I sat down close to the Forum Romanum and enjoyed the last few hours I had left here.

Way too early I left to search the Bus Terminal, where my bus to Munich would eventually leave. I really had to search, since I was on a wrong road and sort of passed it, and getting back was a bit difficult since the Tangente went there as well, and I really did not want to land on that one. I think, I even did for a few metres, but I was able to leave it quite soon again.

However, I found it and as I said, I was there way too early. So I had another Ice Cream and got lost in my book again, until the bus arrived.

I think, the guy who put my bicycle on the back on the bus felt a bit uncomfortable with me watching him fixing it there, but I felt more comfortable if I was able to see that it was really fixed and that I was not leaving it here.
