I. Train into the West

Captain’s Log: Monday, 3 June 2019

Distance: Vienna – Bregenz (Train), 7:15h

Accommodation: Camping Weiss

Weather: Sunny and warm

Today’s note to myself: Pack something to eat for the next time, idiot!

After a long wait and a year’s break with my bicycle tours, I’m finally off again for another adventure.

And since I start every longer journey with a song, I would like to share this one.

Today might be a bit of a boring day, since I’m only taking the train from Vienna to Bregenz. I’ve already rode my bike once from one end of Austria to the other one and back, so I decided to take a short-cut for that distance. It’s not like I’m not going to drive enough around anyway.

This time, my bike Connen-Neute has a companion, since Galileo the Frog is coming with us as well, just as the Wild Boar Magellan.

With those two, nothing can go bad.

After a long, unexciting, but yet beautiful train ride I’ve arrived in Bregenz, where I drove to the same camping ground I was about three years ago during my Austria tour. I called them before, asking if the reception would still be open once I arrived, which was quite late. He told me no, but I should just look for a free space and build my tent up there. And since I arrived so late and since I’m going to leave early in the morning again, he told me that I wouldn’t have to pay for this one night? Which would be awesome if it was true, so I’m already curious for tomorrow, if I really don’t have to pay anything.
