XXIII. I want to go back to the ocean

Captain’s Log: Tuesday, 25 June 2019 Distance: Argelès-sur-Mer (09:00) – Sant Pere Pescador (16:45), 77km Accommodation: Airbnb Weather: Sun and hot Today’s note to myself: At least you did not have to push.
The day started off quite nice with breakfast at the beach. But then I had troubles finding the right path again, since the bicycle road led me into a dead end and there were no signs anymore as well. Either I am really bad at seeing them, or they just, stop existing at some points? But I am really searching for them at every cross section, wo I do not really understand.. Anyway, I followed some roads and found a bicycle way again which I was able to follow until I got to the mountain road which led to Spain. There I had to follow the main road, which was very busy, so naturally these were not very nice conditions. At least I had enough space at the side of the road. At some point, since I had to cross the mountain chain, the road went uphill and the cars were rushing by me, and I got pretty annoyed, but then at some point, the traffic jam started. From then on it was rather funny. Instead of having cars rushing by me, I passed and got passed by the same cars in turns, all over again. I was able to ride my bike slowly at the side and they had to stop and go all the time. Some of them even started to cheer for me every time I passed them again. And the road was not too steep, so I was still able to ride, even though very slowly.
Also the landscape was quite nice. After I finally reached the top, I was able to ride down again, in Spain. From then it was not so nice anymore. I had no bicycle routes to follow, so I needed to follow the busy main road. Every time I tried to find another way, it would either have been lots of gravel roads or lots of detours, so not very much better. So I stayed on the main road, until I finally reached the little town where I booked the Airbnb. The Eurovelo 8 is supposed to lead through here so I hope, I will find the signs somewhere tomorrow.
