Captain’s Log: Tuesday, 27 March 2018<\/p>\n

Accommodation: Hostel of the Sun, Naples<\/p>\n

Distance: The entire ruin city of Pompeii<\/p>\n

Weather: Clouds, sun, about 13-17\u00b0C<\/p>\n

The day started with a nice free breakfast at the hostel. After a short visit to the supermarket, we went on the difficult journey to Pompeii by taking the Metro to the Central Station in Naples and from there the train to the city. The train was completely full during the whole drive, because hardly anyone wanted to get out, but so many other people still wanted to get in at the other stations. I would not say it was awful since I do not want to sound dramatic, but it was an experience. Then we finally reached our station where we had to get off.<\/p>\n

And here we go again, but now with my frog Galileo. The weather was quite cool without the sun, but that di not bother us. The ruins were as awesome as I remembered them, I could still walk around there for hours and I would not have enough of them. And guess what? Walking around for hours in the ruins was exactly what we did.<\/p>\n

Jessy and I talked about the use of these huge stones on the streets, and we thought, probably they were for the pedestrians if the streets were flooded due raining. Maybe it was some sort of speed control for the horses as well, we don’t know.<\/p>\n

I told Galileo not to sit on the stairs because the sign said so, but he would not listen…<\/p>\n

I am still fascinated by the ovens, and how well they were preserved.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

These wall paintings were so fascinating, just as the floor of the thermae, which provided a floor heating.<\/p>\n

We were actually quite lucky with the weather, since with the sun being out it was very warm, and walking around in the heat was not that nice the last time, but we also were already in the train again, before the rain started.<\/p>\n

Back in Naples we walked the one Metro station back to the hostel, where we even got free dinner today. They have free dinner three times a week, which is kinda awesome. I mean, it was a simple meal of pasta with a tomato cheese sauce, but what do you want more?<\/p>\n

The rest of the evening was quiet again. I think, we both were exhausted of walking around the whole day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
