XIX. Well

Captain’s Log: Wednesday, 2 August

Distance: San Gimignano – Casciano (southern of Siena), 68km

Hey, come on, let’s do a bicycle tour through Italy during the hottest Summer for the last 200 years, why not, that seems like a really good idea!….. Well.

So, we managed to leave at the same time as yesterday, so we had the slightly cooler temperatures from the morning again. Because of this, the first half of our distance has not been a problem, we even visited the castle of Monteriggioni.

At some point, we made a break after getting to the supermarket. The next camping ground was in the next 20 kilometres, so not too much actually. But, intelligent as we were, we got again right into the midday heat, and again on an uphill road with hardly any shadow. Why does every camping ground has to lie on some hill? Anyway, I should stop complaining so much, I could get to the sea and the beach very easily as well, and I could just stay there and have a good time there… But where would be the fun of that?

We reached the camping ground more or less well, and even had pizza again in the evening.
