XXVIII. Blub

Captain’s Log: Friday, 11 August

Distance: Latina / Foce Verde – Somewhere between Formia and Scauri, 100km

I have to admit, there did not happen a lot today except driving.

I left a bit later than the day before, and had a short breakfast at the Esplanade, before driving further south.

(I think, that picture was actually taken in the evening before, that’s why it seems quite dark already)

The scenery was quite nice, there has been surprisingly much green around there. I had to drive on the road again, since there are no bicycle ways I could take, but as it had been on the road going from Rome away, the cars here have been quite careful as well.

I noticed the distance I did yesterday now clearly while driving. I was a bit slower on the flat street, I guess. I passed some hills as well today. The funny thing with them was, the road seemed to lead right to them, but before it started to get up the hill, it had a turn and led around the hill instead of over it.

I had this three times today, and it was uplifting every time not to have to drive over the hill but around it.

Of course I had to drive a bit up and down from now and then, but there was no pushing today.

Even though I would have pushed my bicycle up a road for that view as well.

Somewhere from Sperlonga, I just had to follow the coast road. There have been views like this everywhere.

… And one more, just for you to get jealous.

I actually planned to stop at one of the camping grounds before Gaeta, but a Motorbiker, who stopped beside me when I was looking up camping grounds on my phone, told me that after Gaeta the scenery is way more beautiful and not only touristic, as it would be here. So despite being tired already, I decided to follow his advice and continued driving. Unfortunately for me, there have hardly been any camping grounds after Gaeta. So I needed to pass Formia as well for the next one, and even though I did not want to drive that much today, I managed to do it anyway. At least the camping ground is quite calm and cozy.

So schön!! Der Neid könnte einen fressen 😉!
Hahaha. …ist doch cool, um die Hügel herum zu fahren statt oben drüber!
Die Strecke an der Küste in den Süden wird glaub ich noch viel schöner!
