VII. My poor frog

Captain’s Log: Thursday, 21 September 2017

Distance: Still in Madurai

In the morning we had a more relaxed start, since we stayed one day longer and we did not have to pack our luggage already again.

The first point in our program today was a palace, which also was a museum again. On the way we stopped at a flower market. It was so incredible colourful and crowded, and I really do not know where all these flowers came from.

Anyway, the next stop has been in a palace again. It was quite impressive, thinking how in the old times the Ratschas (?), the Kings  where sitting there on the throne, with their folk to their feet and so on… We also saw some statues of the gods again there. And one of our group members found this little guy.

He actually had it on his hand, but then it started crawling up and he just let it. Then it sat on his shoulder.

The second stop was then on one more palace. It was a real big one, and our tour guide told us that it has around 15 000 people for praying there every day. So, quite a lot. Due all the people who came in, they increased the security to a very high standard. We were not allowed to take out cameras with us, and only a small bag with a wallet and cell phone was allowed. We were able to leave the rest in the bus, but I took my frog with me, of course. Then the huge shock; They did not allow me to bring my frog with me to the temple! I had to leave him outside with my shoes, were I was able to pick him up later again. The guy, who took him then, told me, he will look after my baby, but still… Do not worry, I have him with me again now, but he was not in the temple then.

This was one of the four main towers from the outside.

This was a Ganesha Statue, again with grass and flowers, because the favourite food of the elephant is grass.

I am not going to write much, so just enjoy the images.

This was the huge golden flagpole.

And this were again Shiva and Parvathi, during their dancing battle. You can see, the left figure in white has its foot high up in the air, this one is Shiva, the other one his wife.

Is it just me or does this statue look a bit.. obscene?

However. After this big temple we had a bit of time to go shopping. I think, I have never bought such much clothes on a holiday as I did here. I am not sure if that is something good or bad. Most of the stuff will become my stay-at-home clothes anyway. Nice memories, I guess.

The afternoon was relaxing. I sat down at the pool of the Hotel, listening to music and trying to write, and later Grandmother and I played cards again  until it was time for the dinner again.

Er hat als Füllung so kleine Kügelchen, und man wurde halt komplett abgetastet und sie hat den Frosch dann auch genommen und abgetastet, und sie wollte offenbar diese Füllung nicht…
