XXI. Carcassonne

I took my time today in the morning, since I was not in a hurry to leave. After breakfast, I tried to hitch a ride to Narbonne, because there were no buses or else leading there from the camping ground, but it did not work as well as I hoped it would. At last a couple took me a little bit closer to the city, from where I walked about half an hour to the train station. I got a ticket for Carcassonne and waited for the train.

After about half an hour in the train, I arrived in the city. I just got told that Carcassonne is a very beautiful town and I should definitely visit, but I had no idea what I had to visit there. So I just aimlessly walked around the inner city at first.

Then I thought, I could have a break at the river. I am still happy that I like rivers so much that I always have to go to them, because I am really not sure if I would have seen the castle otherwise.

Now I knew why I got told to go to Carcassonne. I made my way up the the entrance and was very impressed. Of course it was very touristic, with Souvenir shops, restaurants and Ice Cream shops everywhere, but it was still an old castle I could just wander through.

There was also a church with beautiful colored windows.

I don’t know how many circles I ran around the castle, but eventually me feet hurt and I decided that it was time to head back.

This time I took a taxi from the train station in Narbonne to the camping ground, since it would have needed a lot more luck to find a car that drives to the camping ground.

There I treated myself with another pizza and a Mousse au chocolat, which I seemed to need as well.
