XLII. Madrid

Captain’s Log: Sunday, 14 July 2019

Distance: Sightseeing

Accommodation: Generator Hostel

Weather: Sun and clouds, and comfortable cool

Today’s note to myself: I got none today.

I got up quite late today, since I tried to plan my next steps while still lying in bed. Apparently the train connection to Porto is not very good, so I am probably going to Santiago de Compostela with the train, and from there should exist proper ways down to Porto which I could take with my bicycle.

Anyway, I actually wanted to leave the hostel around 10, when I noticed that they still had the breakfast buffet standing around. I found out that today they have breakfast until 12, so I treated myself with a big… brunch, I guess?

But afterwards I walked around in the city, visited many places which I got recommended by my Spanish teacher from back at school, until I ended up in the Park Retiro, where I enjoyed the cooler weather (around 27°C maybe, but it does feel quite cool if you’re used to 35°C average) and spent some time reading.

From what I have seen today, I kinda like the city. Of course there are many tourists walking around, but it was still okay and not incredible crowded. Or maybe I was just at the right places.

In the evening I treated myself again with a pizza, but to be honest, even though it is the easiest food to get, I think, I have eaten enough pizza for quite some time now. Maybe I should try a Paella at some point as well, if there are vegetarian ones, of which I have no idea about. Guess, I can look that up tomorrow.
