XLVI. Finally an ocean again

Captain’s Log: Thursday, 18 July 2019

Distance: Santiago de Compostela (09:20) – Vigo (18:00), 100km

Accommodation: Camping Playa Samil

Weather: Sun, but still kinda cool?

Today’s note to myself: I don’t care if it is cool or cloudy or whatever, still put suncream on!

I felt a bit unmotivated in the morning, but once I was on the road, it was alright.

I first tried to follow the blue arrows, which signalised the Camino de Santiago into the south, which is part of the Jakobsweg, I think, and I met a lot of hikers coming towards me. I had to push a couple of times, and at some point I lost the arrows, so I decided to follow the main road.

I think, the most exhausting part for me is really the search for the right path. Because once I was on the main road, which led more or less in a straight line down to first Pontevedra, then Redondela, where I needed to go, I did not mind the hills anymore. I had a clear path, a good road and even though there was quite some traffic, I did not really mind because I had enough space most of the time. But after Vigo I am going to follow the coastal road.

Also I was not driving past one plantage after another, which is kinda boring as well.

Pontevedra

After Pontevedra, where I also applied suncream in a break because I forgot in the morning (I got my first sunburn during this tour now!), I finally came to the ocean again.

I actually wanted to go to the beach once I arrived at the camping ground, but… Well.

It was very crowded.

So I relaxed a bit, bought some water for tomorrow and went out for dinner. I actually wanted to have Paella, but unfortunately they did not serve it in that restaurant.

Now I am finally at the right side of the sea, where I am able to watch the sunset. And of course the Ukulele is with me as well.
