XIV. Enjoying Lyon

Captain’s Log: Sunday, 16 June 2019 Distance: Sightseeing Accommodation: Warmshowers Host Weather: Sunny and comfortable warm Today’s note to myself: Put on sun protection even if it’s not feeling that warm.
Today was a slow start in the morning, but which was fine as well. I was able to wash my clothes and hang them up to dry, before I joined my host from yesterday in the city. He then showed me around in the old city with narrow streets and a nice market on a place in front of a church. Afterwards we walked up to the Basilica Fourvière, which was quite a climb up there, especially with aching muscles. But I admit, it was definitely worth it.
Like, you could see the whole city from up there. And the basilica itself was quite impressive as well.
And it sort of had a church under the church? Like, under the main hall inside there was another just downstairs. Anyway, afterwards we also visited the antique theatre which is still used today for open air festivals.
There I sat and enjoyed the sun, while my host had an appointment to go to. Some point I got hungry, so I headed back to the flat, since it was already early evening anyway. There I had nice chats with everyone in the flat. It was sort of interesting, I came from a couple of days in a hotel room with mostly talking to no-one, and here there are so many people to talk to. I like it.
