XV. Via Rhôna

Distance: Lyon (09:00) – Valence (17:30), 115km

Today was a really good day. Maybe the weather is trying to make up for the rainy days.

Anyway, after saying goodbye to my lovely hosts, I hit the road again. The first kilometres were not very nice, since I had to get out of the city, and the bicycle way was parallel to the highway, but at some point I finally made it to the Via Rhôna, a bicycle route alongside the river, obviously.

From there on, the way was just perfect. Blue sky, sun, and the road going slightly down because I was following the river downstream.

Sometimes the road led away from the river, through some plantages, I think.

But that was alright, because at some point it led back to the river again.

I also had a break at the river. Maybe you have noticed already, but I really like these ways at a river. So

I am just going to spam you with some more pictures.

I thought about just keep going, since the road was nice and the weather as well, but I knew, if I wanted to make a longer distance tomorrow as well, I should eventually rest at some point. So I found a camping ground, well, I tried to find it.

Google Maps led me over grass, where it insisted that there was a road, I just could not see it. However, after some detours I finally found the camping ground.

As I was unpacking my tent, I noticed what I had forgotten to do in Port, while I was waiting for my bike. I forgot to unpack my tent for drying. It was still all wet.

Luckily, after putting it up and letting it stand in the sun for about 15 minutes, it was perfectly dry again.

I also enjoyed a nice pizza at the camping ground restaurant. After all, I will need the energy for tomorrow.
